Plainfield Symphony presents: An Evening with Verdi
Join us for the grand finale of the Plainfield Symphony’s 93rd season with An Evening with Verdi on Saturday, April 27th at 7 p.m. Conducted by guest conductor Michael Avagliano, the evening will feature highlights from several of Verdi’s most popular romantic operas: Nabucco, La Traviata, II Trovatore, Aida and Don Carlo.
Accompanying the Symphony will be The Oratorio Singers of Westfield, under the direction of Trent Johnson, as well as a cast of four highly accomplished and talented soloists: Janinah Burnett (soprano), Isabella August-Demeyer (mezzo-soprano), Philip Alongi (tenor) and Kian Fretas (baritone).
Giuseppe Verdi, one of the most influential romantic opera composers of the 19th century, composed a total of twenty-eight operas from 1813 until his death in 1901. His masterpieces can be chronicled into 4 distinct periods of his life and often reflected his scandalous romances and tragic losses in his life. Nabucco, premiered in 1842, though not his first opera was considered to be the starting point of his career. Verdi continued to impress his audiences throughout the world with many operas, including the widely known La Traviata, II Trovatore, Aida and Don Carlo operas.
