A dear neighbor shared the information about this program with us. We realize this post is a little bit of a departure for NHN. However, sometimes you need a little support. If that’s the case for you, then you might be interested in a seminar in Cranford that starts on Sunday, September 14th.
Here’s a look at the seminar outline:
- Session One – Stages of Grief: Learning about grief, the definition, societal response, the stages and causes. Sharing our story.
- Session Two – Grief Tasks: Learning about the waves of grief and how going to the point of the pain helps us heal. Incorporating the tools with the tasks to map out the journey.
- Session Three – Coping Mechanisms: Learing how to take care of ourselves, reduce stress, and cope with loss.
- Session Four – Changes & Choices: Learning to accept and cope with the changes that come with loss while learning to make chioices that lead toward healing.
- Session Five – Spiritual Journey: Re-examining our faith and relationship with God.
- Session Six – Creating cherished memories and coping the the holidays.
- Session Seven – Coping and managing loneliness and feelings of being disconnected: Learning ways of accepting the feelings, while discovering new ways to connect.
- Session Eight – Closure candlelight service; Labyrinth walk; Fellowship and dessert
The goals of the seminar are to better understand and explore the grief process through sharing and mutual support; to learn ways of coping with and processing the emotions of the grieving heart; to learn how to take care of ourselves on our journey; to accept the loss and explore ways to move on and grow in our lives; to learn how to reach out to others and accept the help of others as they reach out to us; and to affirm our spiritual connection as a source of comfort.
There are many types of loss – death, divorce, illness, moving, rejection, life transitions, and more. Your loss may have occurred a week ago or ten years ago, but it can still be valuable to process it if it hasn’t yet healed.
